A timeline for massage after top surgery
I’ve worked with clients a few days after surgery (numerous types of surgery including top surgery) to weeks and months later. I am comfortably working with clients wherever they are in recovery, and ask numerous questions to ensure clients feel understood. Also, if you’ve never received a bodywork / massage session before, that’s ok too.
Can massage therapy help me sleep better?
Sleep is such an important part of our wellbeing. While some people need more sleep than others, getting too little sleep is associated with a host of medical issues, and a habit of poor sleep can lead to a decline in your overall health.
Why do you work with trans people?
I work with trans people because I see you and I believe you deserve great care. I believe in asking and supporting what makes you comfortable. I use your preferred pronouns. I believe in explaining what a session will look like. I believe in celebrating your top surgery, or understanding how you bind or what you’re nervous about. And like mentioned above, I love supporting people to be authentically in their bodies.
Permission Granted
Maybe we feel selfish for focusing on ourselves because it’s the conditioning we grew up with? Maybe we feel we don't deserve it? Maybe we feel like we need permission to put ourselves first? Maybe we need to be in more pain?
Are desks the enemy?
Desks are not the enemy. Laptops, lousy chairs, and even the vague reference to ‘posture’ take the fall far too often. But lack of variety and movement? That is a worthy enemy.
Allergies and a congested face
Massage and manual lymph drainage (MLD) can support people with seasonal allergies.
Can massage help with headaches?
Tension headaches, the type of headaches people are most likely to experience, seem to respond well to massage therapy. Not only does massage seem to reduce pain in the moment, but regular massage therapy also appears to increase the amount of time between headaches for those who experience them on a chronic basis
How often should I get a massage?
Massage therapy helps with stress and recovery from injury.
