Why did you become a massage therapist?

In 2010 a friend was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer. No one would give her a massage. NO ONE! I was working in corporate cubicle culture during the day in Baltimore, MD and started attending evening classes at a nearby massage school to see what I could learn to support my friend. The economy tanked, I was laid off from my day job and the rest is history. I am deeply passionate about massage, Rosen Method and holding space for others.

My business LLC, Malaika Massage Therapy is named after my three friends who journeyed with cancer. Maddie, Linda and Kathy. Malaika is also a Swahili word for angel.
